It would be great to have you join us for our 1/2.
The last few years the temp has been in the high 60's for the start and low 70's finish. Our worst winter weather does not get below 50 or above mid 70's.
We have water stations every 2 miles (mile 2, 4, 6 Powerade, 8, ) then every mile to the finish ( 9.5 poweraid, 10, 11, 12,).We know that runners from the north may not be used to our warmer winter weather so we encourage hydration, and we have a very active group of volunteers that leapfrog from the first stations to the last ones.
I feel that we have a very scenic course, I run the perimeter of the island of Key West whenever I'm in town ( I live up the keys 22 miles from downtown), sights include, Downtown old town, Hemingway House, Key West Light house, Southernmost Point, Southernmost House, The Casa Marina Hotel ( Flanglers original hotel from early 1900's), Higs Beach, West Martello Fort (Civil War fort), From Mile 3-5 you run on the bike path along the Atlantic Ocean, past Houseboat row, then the half way point is along the Key West Golf Course bike path, Mile 8 is at the Community College with interesting ceramic sculpture displays on the water, then back along North Roosevelt bike path on the water of the Gulf of Mexico and Florida Keys Back Country, past Garrison Bite Marina and docks where Charter fishing and private boats dock, to finish at Lands end village where there is the largest fleet of Schooners, Multihulls and Sail boats as well as a large charter fishing and diving fleet and the passenger boats to the Dry Tortugas. The Half Shell Raw Bar ( our Sponsor) is one of the oldest and best dockside seafood restaurants in the Keys.
Pre race registration, packet pick up and Pasta dinner ($8.00) will be at the Half Shell Raw Bar docks, in Lands End Village on Saturday night January 24, from 5-8 pm.
Our Guest Speaker for Saturday night for our pre race pasta dinner, and speaker presentation, Will be announced on the Docks in front of the Half Shell Raw Bar.Race day registration and packet pick up will be starting at 6AM and close at 6:45. Race start is at 7AM sharp.

Key West, FL. The 11th Annual Half Shell Raw Bar 1/2 Marathon will be held on Sunday, January 25, 2009 at 7 AM. Run this flat, fast 13.1 mile half marathon course through old town Key West and Historic Landmarks and the Key West scenic waterfront. Entry fee is $45 before January 18 and $50.00 after. The first 500 entrants will receive a specially designed t-shirt.
Entry forms can be picked up at Half Shell Raw Bar, and local fitness centers., Half Shell Raw Bar will have a special pasta dinner for $8.00 on Saturday, January 24, 2009 starting at 5 PM.
The registration booth will be set up at the Half Shell Raw Bar at Lands End Marina on Saturday January 24, from 5 PM till 8 PM. Race packets can be picked up at this time. Registration booth will also be open race day starting at 6 am. Awards ceremony with great prizes distributed will follow the race. Awards will given to First thru third Male/Female three deep from 14 & Under to 70 & Over. First Place Overall Male/Female and First & Second Masters and a Military Division.

The Half Shell Half Marathon in it’s Ninth year has been attracting participants from all over the United States, Wisconsin, Minnesota, a group from Indiana, Delaware, Colorado, Missouri, Virginia, Michigan, California and participants as far away as England and Canada.
